I know how many parents want to cloth diaper but because there are so many different types of nappies available these days it can be quite tricky to figure out where to even begin. The amount of information can be quite overwhelming right? So we have developed a simple system for once your baby is 5/6kg old. We have spent many years developing and refining what is now called the Snappit Pro cloth nappy system. It is simple enough for anyone to be able to grasp without having to watch more than one or two videos. Trimness, ease of use and superior absorbency were the three key features we focussed on. Months of testing and tweaking allowed us to eventually get all three just where we needed them. We spend a lot of our time researching how our customers find using our cloth nappies. We take the feedback and make necessary changes in order to perfect the product even more. So what have we done with our gathered feedback to make our snap in system unique and even better than it was before?
Research shows the bulkiness of a cloth nappy is something that many parents struggle to look past. Cloth nappies can never compare to a single use plastic in terms of trimness - for obvious reasons. This is most definitely the only "pro" of a plastic, the fact that it`s so thin however with this thinness comes leaking, shifting and multiple outfit changes. It is then thrown away after one use. It didn't even do the job properly... so is this even a positive aspect? Our new and improved Snappit Pro cover and insert have been redesigned with trimness as the priority, taking it to a whole new level of excellence. Our unique new design results in a much sleeker fit , that is hard to find in the cloth diaper world. Our cover will also fit much longer than the average cloth nappy cover here in SA. This system can be used for bigger kids that still need nappies around 20kg.
Snap in nappy systems can be found all over the world. If we look abroad it is actually probably the most common type of diaper system we see. This is because it is the most user friendly and appears to be the easiest. A pocket style is also popular however the most common complaints are the stuffing of them as well as the leaking. The success of a cloth nappy largely depends on the materials used. Poor fabrics and design mean poor absorbency and poor fit. Our second priority with the Pro system was absorbency. Pokkelokkie has always educated parents how a nappy that wraps around the baby is the most reliable in terms of leaking. This is because there is just much more fabric to absorb. When redesigning the Snappit Pro insert, we retested various ways to layer our custom knitted fabric as well as tweaked the width and length until we reached what we believe to be a better size for both a 6kg baby as well as a 16kg active toddler. And by perfect size we mean a smaller more streamlined insert that can be boosted, remain trim and still withstand a good three hours in a car seat or a jungle gym without leaking. This was a true challenge but one that we definitely enjoyed the most. Browsing cloth nappy groups, the most common complaint we see is the leaking of a nappy that has only an absorbent insert. The combo of our carefully crafted custom new design and unique fabric is a force to be reckoned with. We are confident that leaking will not be a common issue with the new Snappit Pro!
We made a few other tweaks to the overall design such as snap placement and wing length. Ultimately the Snappit pro nappy is so far the best fit we have achieved with our snap in cloth diaper system. It took many months of a lot of testing to achieve the fit we wanted. A 6kg baby and a 16 kg baby are quite different!
